www.ceotodaymagazine.com 92 CEO Today Europe Awards 2018 the united kingdom SIMON WRIGHT CEO of Gatehouse Consulting Limited ABOUT SIMON WRIGHT In 2006 Simon Wright co-founded the Internal Communication and Employee Engagement consultancy, Gatehouse, following a career that had spanned two decades working in Marketing and Communication. Following his decision to leave employment, Simon’s first venture saw him lead the rebranding of Etisalat, one of the UAEs most important telecom organisations. From that early start, he decided that branding wasn’t his passion and went on to focus his attentions on developing the fledgling Internal Communications industry. It was at this point that he met with a friend and former colleague, and Gatehouse was born. From 2006 through to its acquisition in 2017, Simon led the Gatehouse business and directed its growth to become one of the most recognised and respected brands in the industry. Winning numerous awards and consulting for many of the world’s greatest brands, Gatehouse quickly rose to become one of Europe’s leading Internal Communication practices. But business hasn’t been Simon’s sole focus. As a dedicated family man, Simon is particularly keen on working with organisations that benefit children and so has an active role in working with local schools, having Chaired the governing body of The Coopers’ Company and Coborn School, whilst also sitting on the boards of two other local schools. Beyond this, he also undertakes various pro bono activities for charities, including I Can – a charity that supports children with communication challenges. In his free time, Simon is an avid collector of technology and has amassed an interesting collection of items from the recent past which have gone on to shape the current technological revolution. Whether the first mobile phone or the original portable laptop – Simon is fascinated by those machines which were revolutionary in their time, but are almost unrecognisable to the modern day eye.
