CEO Today Europe Award s 2022 - UNITED KINGDOM - - 101 - Can you share a little bit about what you’ve been up to over the past 12 months? Creation of the Chatsworth Schools Tapestry: We have designed an unique learning framework that ensures every school in the family can deliver a truly bespoke education tailored to every child’s needs. This bespoke framework is called the Chatsworth Tapestry and consists of six strands: mindset, wellbeing, entrepreneurship, sustainability, global and digital literacy. Each Chatsworth School will weave these strands differently to adapt their learning to their children’s unique talents and needs. Expanding UK Operations: In March 2021 Chatsworth Schools acquired Riverston School and Beech Hall School from The Riverston Group. Riverston School is a London-based small co-educational and non-selective School, synonymous with its ability to support children with moderate learning needs in a caring environment. Beech Hall in the Peak District is a non-selective school for boys and girls aged 6 months to 16 years that provides a child-centred approach to education. The Chatsworth Schools Foundation: Together with the Chatsworth Schools management team, I have established the Foundation, a registered charity, as a vehicle for the Chatsworth Schools’ family to support, encourage and enable children within our group and further afield. The Foundation aims to advance education for the public benefit and support of children of all abilities who may be disadvantaged or otherwise prevented or hindered from achieving their highest potential due to their personal circumstances or background. Enabling Entrepreneurship: We recently launched an innovative partnership with international award-winning education company 8billionideas and appointed David Harkin, the Founder and CEO of 8billionideas, to the newly created position of Director of Entrepreneurship and Innovation. The partnership is designed to help Chatsworth Schools staff and pupils share ideas for improving school life on a day-to-day basis, push the boundaries of innovation within education and help pupils realise their entrepreneurial potential. Commitment to Funding: Chatsworth Schools recently secured the future of Benedict House School in Sidcup on an enlarged site, more than double the size of the existing school and is now investing in a programme of refurbishment. This work will see the creation of new subject specialist learning rooms and improve the outdoor spaces at the school with the addition of a floodlit all year synthetic turf pitch, a Forest School and an extended play space including multi-activity areas and a Jungle gym. Outstanding Exam Results The Village Prep School: In February 2021, The Village Prep School in Belsize Park announced fantastic Year 6 results – including 10 scholarships (from a class of only 13 girls), at an impressive range of leading Day Schools. The scholarships included two major academic scholarships, a performing arts scholarship and a music scholarship. Benedict House Prep School: Year 6 pupils achieved the best ever 11+ pass rate in the history of the School this year, with 100% passing the Kent test and 80% passing the Bexley test. Griffin House Prep School: For the last four years, Griffin House have featured in the top 100 prep schools in The Sunday Times Schools Guide, rated according to SATS results. This year Griffin House School was 31st and the top school in Buckinghamshire. With no entrance examination, this makes its academic success all the more noteworthy. What are the Chatsworth Schools’ achievements you’re most proud of? I am so proud of the whole Chatsworth Schools team for everything we have achieved since our launch in 2018 and equally proud of the achievements of all the wonderful Chatsworth Schools children who have excelled beyond expectation over the past few years. There is so much to be proud of at a group and an individual level that it is difficult to pick specific examples. I am however proud each and every day that at Chatsworth Schools, learning is at the centre of all we do and the wellbeing of our children is the starting point of all our conversations. That is why I founded Chatsworth Schools and Blenheim Schools and that is what marks us out. What are you looking forward to for the future? I am excited both about our work in the UK where we will continue to enable outstanding futures for children at all our schools and nurseries and about our plans to grown internationally which are an opportunity to spread best practice following the launch of Beech Hall School Riyadh.
