María Dolores Dancausa since October 2010 she has held the post of Managing Director of Bankinter, one of the leading financial institutions in Spain. Holding a degree in Law from the University of San Pablo Ceu, she has also studied on a number of Management Programmes at Harvard Business School, and an AMP (Advanced Management Programme) at the INSEAD Business School (Fontainebleau).

Throughout her career, she has worked in the financial sector, first at Banco Exterior and then at Bankinter.

When Línea Directa Aseguradora was created in 1994, she was appointed General Secretary of the Management Board, a role she held until 2008 when she became Managing Director. Since 2013 until 2018, she was a non executive director of Esure, a leading UK insurance Company.

Bankinter was established in June 1965 as an industrial bank, 50% between Banco de Santander and Bank of America. In 1972 it was listed on the Madrid Stock Exchange, becoming at that time a bank totally independent of its founders; it was then that it was transformed into a commercial bank.

Bankinter’s history is characterized by a history of growth over the years, based on taking advantage of regulatory changes, special situations and new market niches.

Bankinter is the sixth largest bank in the Spanish financial system, the fourth by market capitalization and the first by profitability and asset quality. With a presence in Spain, Portugal, Ireland and Luxembourg, Bankinter bases its strategy on different lines of business that are complementary to each other.
